I am saddened to learn of the passing of George. I worked with him as an Attorney at Employment Security in the 1980s, and regularly tapped him for ideas while I served as Commissioner in the administration of Governor Caperton. George was a wonderful public servant to West Virginia and a great friend. My sympathy and prayers are with the family.

Mary Jane and family,I have wondrful memories of George,Carl, Danny and Evelyn. The many times George brought laughter to the office and how many times he met his hardships head-on. That, I believe, was an Uphold trait. He was a blessing to be around as you and your family know.GOD is welcoming a great man and we all share your loss.May peace come to you and your loved ones.Sandy

What a wonderful, honorable, caring, individual. He was the greatest! He was never my supervisor as I managed the Summersville Office but he never failed to stop and see the staff when he traveled near. That smile! A little light has gone out of the world. God Bless and keep you til you meet again.

Hi,I would just like to extend my sympathies to your family. I worked for Mr. Uphold in a short part-time position in the early 70's. He was a very kind and supportive gentleman. He took time to teach me my job as his assitant and when it was discovered that it would not be the full-time position I needed, Mr. Uphold made it his mission to find me gainful employment with Sterling Faucet. This employment opportunity eventually defined my career path in Purchasing moving through the ranks into management which I used in several different states as my family moved. I am forever grateful for Mr. Uphold and the time he took to care and help me at that time. Had he not I am not sure where my career would have taken me. May he always be remembered for his kind and caring spirit.Blessings,Brenda Landis

Aunt Jane, Randy and familyI am so sorry to learn of Uncle George's passing. He meant so much to so many. He was always laughing and making others laugh bringing joy wherever he would go. I remember when he and my Dad would get together anything could happen and usually did. George was part of the family support and strength that I clung to and benefited from when my Dad died. He will be truly missed. I am only sorry that I could not see him one more time for the smile and warmth that he brought to me with each visit. Rest in peace Uncle George. I love you.
