Michael Paul Dawley, 48, of Morgantown, and formerly of Ft. Wayne, IN, passed away early Thursday morning, July 14, 2011 at Ruby Memorial Hospital following a 10 year struggle with A.L.S.He was born in on March 1, 1963, the son of Paul Ralph and Judi Lynn Locke Dawley, who survive him at home in Morgantown.In addition to his parents, survivors include his two children, Emily and Paul Dawley of Morgantown three brothers, Jeff Dawley and his wife Manju of Springboro, OH, David Dawley of Chicago, IL and Paul Dawley and his wife Laurie of Fishers, IN one aunt and three uncles including Patricia Howe and her husband Gary, Tom Dawley and Charles Locke, all of Syracuse, NY and his nieces and nephews including Jeffrey, Tyler and Maya Dawley of Springboro, OH, Laura and Elyse Dawley of Fishers, IN, and Jim Howe of Syracuse, NY. Michael was a graduate of Bishop Dwenger High School in Ft. Wayne, IN where he was a gifted athlete, competing in swimming, wrestling, football and baseball.. A Hooser Scholar, he obtained his B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University, where he also played on the lacrosse team, and was a graduate of the Financial Management Program at General Electric.He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting and gardening. He was also a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.Michael will be best remembered as a wonderful father, brother, son and friend. He was a selfless man who was always willing to help others.Family and friends will be received at St. Francis de Sales Church, One Guthrie Lane, Morgantown, on Sunday, July 17, from 3-7 PM., and again on Monday, July 19 from 9 AM until the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM with Reverend Father Mark Ward, CP, VF, and Father Leon Alexander as Con-Celebrants. Following the Mass, Mr. Dawleyâs wishes for cremation will be honored by his family.A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 6:45 PM Sunday evening in the church to conclude the visitation. A Memorial Mass will be said August 13, 2011 at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Ft. Wayne, IN at 10:30 AM. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the Mass at the church.In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions in Mr. Dawleyâs name please be made to the Packard Center for ALS Research at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Attention Jolynn Hall, 100 North Charles Street, Suite 436, Baltimore, MD 21201, or to Morgantown M.D.A. / A.L.S.
