Obituary of William Prunty

William Frank âBillâ Prunty, 75, of Morgantown, WV died Sunday, March, 27, 2011.Bill was born in Oxford, WV on August 24, 1935, a son of the late C. O. Prunty and the late Gertrude Pratt Prunty.Bill previously resided in Clarksburg, WV, Bethel Park, PA and spent his winters in Lake Placid, FL.Bill graduated from Pennsboro High School and Salem College. He served his country in the WV National Guard after attending West Virginia University and was a true Mountaineer fan. He was active in many organizations for his family including coaching numerous youth sports teams, the Bethel Park Band Boosters, and other bands in South Hills, PA, Highlands County, FL and Shinnston, WV. Bill was also a lifetime 4H All Star and a Brother in Free Masonry, Scottish Rite and Osiris Shrine Temple.Bill retired from management at Equitable Gas Company in Pittsburgh, PA.Bill is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sandra âSusieâ Glenn Prunty children, David Glenn Prunty (Bonnie Solt) of Ithaca, NY, Steven Mark Prunty (Amy Rogers) of Morgantown, WV, and Leslie Anne Staverman (Rob) of Chicago, IL and grandchildren Ashley Erin Prunty and Ryan William Prunty of Ithaca, NY and Claire Lena Derringer of Morgantown. Bill is also survived by his brother, Emery L. âBudâ Prunty (Sharon) of Petersburg, WV and sister, Carol J. Guthrie (Jack) of Hinckley, OH and numerous nieces and nephews.Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, C. O. âTomâ Prunty, Jr. and Richard P. Prunty. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, Thursday, March 31 from 5-8p.m.and again on Friday, April 1 from 12:30 PM until the time of the funeral service at 1:30p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Tim W. Halloran officiating.Private family committal service will be held Saturday, April 3 at Bridgeport Cemetery, Bridgeport, WV.Floral arrangements are welcomed at the funeral home.
