I have a great memory to share about Aunt Betty. When I was in 3rd of 4th grade I was able to spend the weekend at the cottage with Aunt betty and the girls. They hooked me on tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches, and taught me several ways to play solitare. I caught unique butterflies on the beautiful flowers and took a bath with a bar of ivory soap in the water. That was a blast. Aunt Betty will be missed by many. She had such a big heart, a warm smile, and a wonderful memory. She would always remember to send b-day cards and christmas gifts to myself and my kids. She will forever be in our hearts.

As a sports reporter, I first met Betty after a softball game in the 1970s, just a few years before her retirement. To say that she laid a strong foundation for women's athletics in Howard County, MD, would be an understatement. She was a pioneer and was worthy of her induction into the first class of the Howard County Women's Athletics Hall of Fame. Every year, we were so delighted that she could attend the ceremony. Betty was such a role model for students and coaches alike. I regret that we were snowed out this year and we did not get to say thank you one more time. May you rest in peace, Betty.

Betty was a long time friend of Mother, Nancy Brown. My mother also came from Morgantown to Howard County to teach. They were also in the Delta Kappa Gamma together, and the retired teachers. They were friends for a very long time. Whenever we would go back to Morgantown, many times we rode with Betty. I think even one time I rode with her by myself. Both my brother and I have very fond memories of her. My condolences go out to her family.

Thank you for creating a tradition of excellence at Howard High. I used your tradition and your success to inspire a new generation of young girls to excellence in academics and field hockey. You will always be a legend at HHS. God bless your life and grant your family peace, love and plesant memories.

My condolences to the family. I have very fond memories of "the ladies across the street". Ms. Betty taught me to swim and was always very kind, understanding, thoughtful and happy. My life has been enriched by having been treated so kindly by her. I am grateful for having had that opportunity and am saddened by her passing. God rest her soul.

Miss Lang was an exceptional coach and teacher. I was glad to reconnect with her at her Hall of Fame induction at Howard and to continue with correspondence. I know that I am a better person for her influence and guidance. Please accept my condolences for your loss. Sincerely, Jane Shehan, Class of 1974 Howard High School
