Obituary of Donald Adams

Dr. Donald Raymond Adams, Jr., 72, of Arthurdale, formerly of Morgantown, passed away Friday, March 15, 2013 at Preston Memorial Hospital of Kingwood, WV.
He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on May 4, 1940, the son of the late Donald Raymond Adams, Sr. and the late Helen Frank Adams, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA.
Surviving are his fiancée, Dora Oglesby; a son, Sean Patrick Adams and his wife Julianna Barr; a daughter, Elizabeth Angela Adams; his sister Nancy Seeds and her husband Daniel of NC and his former wife, Joyce Adams.
He graduated from Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, as well as the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Pennsylvania where he received his Ph.D., and while serving as a Lieutenant in the US Navy, taught for three years at the US Naval Academy. Additionally, he taught for 14 years at Southern Illinois University, then at West Virginia University until 1987 when he retired in 2005..
Following his retirement, he did expert witness work for various lawyers in the Morgantown area while enjoying classic films, bird watching, classical music, opera, astronomy , reading, watching the Steeler and Pirate games.
Dr. Adam's wishes for cremation have been honored by his family.
Friends are welcome to join the family at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Saturday, March 23rd for a time of remembrance from 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM. A brief blessing will be offered at 4 PM Saturday in the funeral home by Father John Peck, OSB, of St. John University Parish to conclude the gathering.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions in Dr. Adam's memory please be made to Central Catholic High School, 4720 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
