Obituary of Candace Carolyn Lanham

Candace Carolyn Fogle Lanham, 65, of Morgantown passed away June 16, 2013 at Ruby Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with biliary cancer. She was born July 23, 1947 in Parkersburg to Wallace and Ruth Fogle. Candace graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1965. She later attended college at West Virginia University graduating in 1970 with a degree in Education. Following college, she married her husband Bill in 1970 before beginning her teaching career. She began her career in Wood County, where she taught at Hamilton Junior High School for eight years. She moved to Morgantown in 1978 with her family. She taught science in Monongalia County at Cheat Lake Middle School for 30 years before retiring to spend more time with family and friends. Her joys and hobbies included shopping, reading, WVU athletics, trips to Hilton Head Island, shopping trips with friends and most of all spending time with her two precious granddaughters, Audrey and Madelyn, as well as her beloved companion Bella! She is survived by her husband of 43 years William "Bill" Lanham, son William Joshua Lanham, wife Stephanie and granddaughter Audrey of McMurray, PA and son Jonathan Alexander Lanham, wife Angela and granddaughter Madelyn of Morgantown; sister, Debbie Fogle Tipper and husband Fred; niece, Betsy Tipper, and nephew Chris Tipper all of Vienna, WV. Survivors also include: her mother-in-law, Norma Jean Coven Consonery of Monongahela, PA; nephew - Rusty Maple of Pensacola, FL; aunt- Carrie Stump of Morgantown; brother- in-law Mike Fuchs of Parkersburg; brother in law Robert Consonery of Simpsonville, SC, nephews Nicholas and Anthony Consonery and niece Chandler Consonery; sister in law Monica Consonery and niece Courtney of Richmond, VA; sister in law Barbara and husband Brian Sanders of Honey Brook, PA and nieces Tara Kishbaugh of Singer Glenn, VA and Megan Horst of East Earl, PA; and brother in law James C. Lanham of Lakeland, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, twin sister Constance Marilyn Fogle Maple Fuchs, and her Uncle Ronald Stump, as well as in-laws William E. and Marie H. Lanham. Friends will be received at Suncrest United Methodist Church 479 Van Voorhis Road, Morgantown on Friday, June 21, 2013 from 9am to 11am. A memorial service will follow at 11 with Rev. Junius Lewis officiating. Her family would like to express their gratitude and admiration to her doctors and nurses who have been involved in her care over the last 3 years.
