Tim - we never met your Mom. She must have been a wonderful woman -- as yourself and your children are certainly a reflection of what she valued. I am sure you have many wonderful memories you share with Grant and Kristen , as well as with your siblings. We will be keeping you all in our prayers.

Dear Friends,
Born, January 21, 1923 in Albright Wv, Mom was the youngest of three children. She and her two brothers Ralph, the oldest and Denzil the middle child no doubt were anxious about their move to Morgantown in 1926. At my mothers knee I learned of the hardships the family faced throughout the pre war years and how they were fortunate that their dad worked in a grocery store so they could have things sometimes they would not have had otherwise, and how their mother walked from their home in Marilla to work at the shirt factory day in and day out. Although mom never worked outside the home she learned a tremendous work ethic from her parents. One I believe she passed down to her children and grand children.
The more important lesson we learned from her was that of our savior Jesus Christ and how he gave his life for all of us. Mom would have willingly given her life for her children. Not just her biological children either. There were literally hundreds of kids she and dad nurtured, mentored, loved. Many of whom have visited over the past couple of days. She loved each and every one as if you were her own.
As I reminisced over the past few days I thought of several life lessons mom taught us.
For example although never receiving her license to drive she was not bashful about reminding us to "SLOW DOWN" if she thought we were driving too fast (like 26 MPH in a 25 zone) or "DO THOSE PEOPLE LOOK IN THE MIRROR BEFORE THEY LEAVE HOME". How about making sure we didn't spoil our appetite by screaming "GET OUTTA THE COOKIE JAR"!!!!.... from under the clothes line, .. on the other side of the house , outside.. and I would be remiss if I left out "always wear clean underwear incase you are in an accident and have to go to the hospital". Most of all the lessons she taught us were real lessons like "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" and how to be thrifty, and brave. Most of all the things mom taught us were those we learned by watching how she and dad lived their lives. I remember feeding strays. Not cats or dogs but rather people. It's part of how they witnessed. I remember being on "vacation" one year at Chestnut Ridge Camp, where we had rented a cabin. A young man peddled in on a bike and rented the small cabin adjacent to the one we had. Almost as soon as he moved in mom started "G.B.. go see if that boy has food a few minutes later. G.B.! go get that boy and tell him to come over here and eat. She did not relent until dad had finished his cigarette and strolled across the field, introduced himself to a perfect stranger and invited him to "sup" with us, which he did. A lot, that kid probably hadn't had a meal like that for the three months he had been crossing the country on his bicycle. Some how, she always seemed to know when to throw another potato in the pot, tomato in the stew, or carrot in the salad to be able to feed one more, or 10 more, what ever was needed. She was a feeding saint there are many more memories that I could share Thanks for the memories and lessons. Love you.

As an alumni of the Red and Blue, a friend fnGrant's, and one of Tim's scouts of many years, I'm sad to say that I never knew her personally, but I am extremely thankful for everything she has done for this community and installing such values in her children. The Morgantown community has lost a great soul, but we are forever blessed by what she has left behind.
