Jennie Cecelia Latusek Maczko, 91, of Morgantown, passed away Friday evening, January 2, 2015 at Sundale Nursing Home. She was born in Greer, WV on November 17, 1923, the daughter of the late Frank Latusek and the late Mary (Szanokowski) Latusek. Survivors include one sister, Wanda Latusek Olexa of Morgantown; her three children, Janice Maczko Coombs and her husband Dana of Summerville, SC, Larry Michael Maczko and his wife Susan of Morgantown, and Rick Maczko of Arthurdale; five grandchildren, Melanie Coombs Lee of Summerville, SC, Heather Maczko of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Amanda Godard and her husband Jason of Ashburn, VA, Kristen Maczko of Ashburn, VA and Ricky Maczko and his wife Amanda of Houston, TX; five great-grandchildren, Hunter Lee, Kristen Lee Zeiss and her husband Matthew, and John Kevin Lee, Jr. all of Summerville, SC and Kaely Cecelia Godard and Kortney Marguerite Godard of Ashburn, VA; two great-great-grandchildren, Christopher and Scarlett Zeiss of Summerville, SC, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Mike Maczko, Jr. in 1995; two brothers, John and Ted Latusek; a sister, Helen Rutowski; and several nieces and nephews. Jennie retired from Sterling Faucet in 1979 after many years of service. A deeply religious and faithful woman, she was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Sabraton, as well as the church’s Ladies Guild and Altar Rosary Society. She truly had a “green thumb” that showed with her love of gardening and flowers. She will be remembered by her family as a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who loved spending time with her grandchildren. The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to the doctor’s and staff of Sundale Nursing Home for the love and care given to Jennie during her stay there. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, WV on Tuesday, January 6 from 1-3 & 6-8 PM. The Parastas will be recited Tuesday at 8:00 PM in the funeral to conclude the visitation. On Wednesday, January 7th, Mrs. Maczko will be moved to St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, 2115 Listravia Ave., Sabraton, where she will lay in repose from 10 AM until the Divine Liturgy at 11 AM with Father Michael Hustzi as celebrant. She will be laid to rest with her husband in the East Oak Grove Cemetery, Morgantown. Jennie loved flowers and therefore floral remembrance will be accepted at the funeral home.
