Obituary of Shirley Campbell Eagan
Shirley Rae Campbell Eagan, 75 of Morgantown, passed away Friday, April 28, 2017 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.
She was born in Charleston WV on March 29, 1942, the daughter of the late Joseph E. and Genevieve C. Campbell.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 40 years, Gerald V. (Jerry) Eagan; a brother, Larry D. and Susan Campbell of Indian Land, SC; two nephews; Grant J. and Kelly Campbell of Burke, VA., and Craig D. and Buffy Campbell of Chapin, SC; 3 great-nephews and 2 great-nieces.
Shirley had a long and successful career with the West Virginia University Extension Service where she worked as a home economist and WVU Extension Specialist. She received numerous awards during her extension tenure from which she retired in July of 1996. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Marshall College in 1964, a Masters of Education from North Carolina State University in 1969, and a PhD of Education from WVU in 1985.
Shirley and Jerry enjoyed traveling across the country and they both loved searching for antiques and items to add to their special-interest collections. Together they spent lots of travel and time researching the genealogy of both of their family ancestors. Shirley enjoyed cooking and baking and was an avid reader. She was a long time member of Suncrest United Methodist Church in Morgantown. Shirley was a devout WVU sports fan.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation services will be provided by Hastings Funeral Home. Family and friends will be received at Suncrest United Methodist Church, 479 Van Voorhis Rd., Morgantown on Friday, May 5th from 10 AM until the time of the memorial service to Honor the Life of Shirley Campbell Eagan at 11 AM with Rev. Tim Halloran officiating.
