I worked only with Helen via email or by phone. She was always very friendly and called me a sweetie whenever I received a call from her, in regards to publications we have at the US Forest Service. Met her about 3 years ago, at Morgantown, while my husband and I were travelling to Maryland, to visit our son. She was determine to show me around the building and all, where she worked. It was nice to finally meet her in person. She will surely be missed. My prayers and thoughts are with the family.

Hands down, one of the best things about calling or visiting the US Forest Service office in Morgantown was to have a conversation with 'Miss Helen'!
She was always so engaged and engaging; it was always more enjoyable to call and talk with Miss Helen before being transferred to an employee than it was to email that person directly.
After I had met Miss Helen, I could not believe that this lively senior was the person that I had talked to off and on for many years; I was expecting someone half her age, based on how energetic she was on the phone.
I have never met anyone who had undertaken a new job opportunity when many people are thinking of 'winding down' at that age. Additionally, she continued in that role for what many would consider a full career in itself. That is incredible and rarely happens anymore.
I have truly missed my conversations with Miss Helen when I have called the Forest Service office over the last year or so.
We all need a little more 'Miss Helen' in our lives.

Marlene, John and Family,
Helen loved you dearly. She was so thankful and proud of her granddaughters.
She was a wonderful friend to me over the years. We worked together, attended Church and prayed together, and helped Joanne with a Bible Study together. I am so thankful for her prayers for me and my family over all of those years. She amazed me with how many people she knew in Morgantown and always remembered their names. She was so faithful to the Lord, her job, and the people she knew. She touched the lives of many young people in our Church. She took them under her wing and encourage them as they grew up. She was invited to more graduations, wedding showers, weddings, and baby showers as these young people got older than anyone I know.
Helen is loved and will be missed by me and many, many others. Thank you for sharing your loved one with us. May the Lord comfort you!

Marlene, John and family, I extend my deepest sympathy to you on the loss of your dear mother. She was one of the kindest and sweetest people I knew. We had a bond that we shared for as long as I can remember. She taught me so many of life’s lessons and for that I will always be grateful. I can still hear her voice and her knock on my office door as she came to share an early morning cup of coffee. Helen, I love you and I’ll always carry you in my heart. Rest, my dear friend, your work here is done.

Marlene, Johnny and Family,
I cannot begin to express how sorry I am for your loss. Your mother was a very dear friend, and my "adopted" mother. She took me under her wing when my own mother passed, and never for one moment did I feel that I was without a mother. She was truly a woman "extraordinaire".
If someone were to ask me to describe what a Christian is, I would describe your mother. She was kind, honest, caring, loving, giving, thoughtful, and the list of positive adjectives continue; too many to list. She always put others above herself.
I dearly loved her, and will miss her tremendously, never more to hear her call me her "adopted" daughter and tell me she loves me. To some, "I love you" are just words, but I know she truly loved me, and I her.
Her journey on this Earth is over, but her memory will live on for as long as those whose lives she touched continue to live. I for one will never forget her, but she was ready to move on to that greater realm called Heaven. She is at peace, and I am too, knowing that her new life has begun with her Lord.
My sincerest sympathy to all of you.

Helen was an extraordinary woman. She was kind, gentle, caring and always doing for others. She was my mother in law for a brief 5 years, but a true friend for almost 50. She loved her family and always honored her God.
She loved working and did so until her 91st Birthday. So remarkable, in so many ways. I will cherish all the wonderful times we had together. She is, where she always wanted to be. Until we meet again, sweet Helen.
Love you, Bonnie
