I was a roommate of Marc's during a weeklong London trip in '84 sponsored by the WVU English department (I think). We didn't hang out all that much, but when we did, we had fun. We sat next to each other on the flight over. Both of us had "rock star" hair (mid-'80s style), and a man actually asked us whether we were in a band. Sorry to hear of Marc's passing.

Mark was my best friend, in the 1980s to the 1990s. When he was in LA then he disappeared. And I didn't know why but we always had artistic moments. He was very creative and influential in my life and still is even though he's dust right now he still has a spark in my heart. He was a good man. I like that guy. Rest in peace mark. Go with the light and let it shine again on Earth

I knew Marc as Dorien, regardless, he was a man I cared deeply for. He was a compassionate, intelligent and artistic gentleman. He offered me support and love at times, we shared laughter at light hearted antics of animals and humourous movies but also shared tears with the passing of some great musicians and actors, and the beauty, artistic quality and emotional content of music and film. I offered him support but he was too stubborn to make changes and face his fears, and am so so sad he didn't as now he is gone.
Dorien made an impact on many across the globe. He was impassioned to try and stand for the many senseless deaths that occur in society, giving voices to those who undeserved ly and unexpectedly died by the hands of others selfishness and cruelty.
He shared his love of music and film in two facebook groups. He tried to help a great many people though he himself suffered in the world as it grows colder, crueler and less compassionate. His artistic vision was as large as his heart, that is to say boundless.
He will be sorely missed, my lifelong friend and spiritual brother.
I will never forget you. The world has lost another light, brother, fare thee well on your final journey. Love Ana

I don't know your family, but wanted to express my condolences...loss of a loved one feels like the worst pain you can go through-I have unfortunately lost far too many, and know that overwhelming sadness. Something that helped me was to know that I wasnt alone, Ps. 34:18 says "...God is close to the brokenhearted; he saves those who are crushed in spirit." Once I felt that support, I could focus on the hope of seeing my Dad, younger brother, grandparents, aunt & neice...John 5:28 talks about God calling all those in the memorial tombs and them hearing his voice and coming out. Its hard to believe that could be real sometimes, but knowing it's possible keeps me going. I hope you and your family take comfort in that hope too. Many thoughts and prayers go out to all who are missing Marc.

I'm just beside myself over Marc's passing. He was a sweet and caring man... So passionate, talented, and dedicated to his art. He had a special talent for finding beauty in things others did not and for helping others see the beauty in themselves that they may not see. He will always have a special place in my heart and will not be soon forgotten.
Thank you, Marc, for the flowers... And the laughs... And the hugs when I needed them but wouldn't ask... Farewell, starman... Your spaceship knows which way to go.

This was Marc's Facebook profile photo under his artistic name, Dorien Grey. He loved this photo, it has a mystery and depth to it that is really quite profound. He remains the most dear, beloved, beautiful man I have ever known.
I loved him, and always will. To his family, condolences, this is a man without equal.

Marc made the world not only bearable for many troubled souls, he made it beautiful by the sheer force of his kindness and goodness, his talent, his humour. He was the most humane person I've ever known. He has changed me forever. Knowing him has affected every aspect of my life. Loving him was a given and an honour. Bless his soul.

Marc was the best friend I have ever had. He will live in my heart forever, I loved him deeply and that does not die. He supported me through endless traumas and sadnesses, he was there to laugh when I laughed, to celebrate my personal and artistic successes...above all, he was just there when I needed him, and I always needed his calm, lovely presence. There are people in this world who change you forever. Marc was one of those people. I will hold a candle in my heart for him forever. I will love him forever. His humanity, decency and artistic nature were remarkable. He was remarkable. My sincere sympathies to everyone in his family.
He is irreplaceable, and will be cherished forever, and missed ever moment of every day.
Blessings, dear Marc, rest in gentle peace.
