Please share a memory of John Mark to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

John Mark Hobday, 82, of Morgantown, passed away on March 27, 2018 at J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Mark was born in Berkeley Springs, WV, on December 11, 1935, the son of the late Robert Preston Hobday and Frances Virginia (Bohrer) Hobday.

Mark spent his career as an Electrical Engineer and was the first one in his family to obtain a college degree.  He dedicated a lot of his time as a Scout Master, a coach of many sports,  and volunteered many hours in the public school system.  Mark was a long standing member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  In fact, he was one of the oldest members in the area.

In his spare time, Mark enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking.  He was an avid Mountaineer fan and a talented artist.  He was considered a “fix it man” who was known to repair anything.  He was known by all who knew him to be very reliable and would help anyone in any way he could.

Mark is survived by his wife, Barbara, with whom his 59th anniversary is today, March 28th; two children Joyce DeLawder and husband, John, of Morgantown, and Jeff Hobday and wife,  Julie Shultz, of South Carolina; four grandchildren Amy DeLawder, 31, Abby White, Jared DeLawder, and Mallory Hobday; great grandson, Owen White; and sister, Mary Goodman, of Martinsburg.

In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by two siblings Donald Hobday and Betty Lou Hobday.

Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home on Thursday, March 29th  from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.  Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 161 Meadow View Lane, Morgantown on Friday, March 30th at 11 a.m., with Bishop Robert Hoskins officiating.  Private interment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 1299 Pineview Drive, # 3, Morgantown, WV  26505 or via website @ www.alz.org.
