I was looking for an old friend named Terence Ahern who attended Maryknoll Jr. Seminary with me in 66 & 67.
If this is him, please let me know.
God Bless and may his soul rest in peace.

Dr. Ahern was my professor for several doctoral classes at Texas Tech. His brilliant mind and kind soul drew students to want to be around him, take his classes, and seek his advice. As an assistant professor now, I think of him often and strive to inspire my students as that he inspired us. We are all better to have known him and learned from him.

Dear AHern Family:
I only met Terence a couple of times but was always struck by his open and caring manner. He truly was a man of God and his children show it. May he rest in Peace.
As St. Josemaria Escriva was fond of saying, when God takes a soul-- he is not a hunter out to get you, but rather a gardener who takes the rose at its fullest bloom. May he continue blooming in heaven. Prayers for Janet and the family.

I had classes with Dr. Ahern from around 2011-2014. I always enjoyed class and I learned a lot.
Dr. Ahern was the same age as my older brother, so we had a lot in common. When he would make jokes or cultural references, he would sometimes say: Does anyone here know what I am talking about? and of course, I would reply: I do!
He challenged me and saw things in me that I sometimes didn't see in myself. One assignment was giving me a hard time and I was telling him I didn't think I could do it. He replied: But, Linda, you love to program! His comment stopped me in my tracks because I didn't think of it that way, but he was remembering my project in the previous games class and realized that if I could overcome the problems in my game project, I could solve the thermometer project.
He loved life. He loved people. He loved teaching. He will be missed.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences for your loss.
