Obituary of Terence Charles Ahern
Dr. Terence Charles Ahern, Ph.D passed away on September 28, 2018 in Morgantown, WV at the age of 66.
Funeral service will be held at St. John University Parish Catholic Church on October 5th. The funeral mass will begin at 11am and the church will open at 10am for all to attend. Hastings Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements.
Terence was born in Sacramento, CA to John and June Ahern on April 27, 1952. He received his bachelors degree from University of California Santa Cruz. He held masters degrees from The University of Chicago, San Francisco State University and The Graduate Theological Union. He received his Ph.D from The Pennsylvania State University in 1991. He devoted his career to teaching and was a professor at Texas Tech University and California State University Monterey Bay. He was Associate Professor of Instructional Design and Technology at West Virginia University since 2005. He volunteered his time as an instructor for the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults at San Carlos Catholic Church. He was an avid baseball fan and a baseball coach but the role he most excelled in was as devoted grandfather to his three granddaughters.
Terence is survived by his wife, Janet of Morgantown and his children Joseph Ahern, Matthew Ahern, and Mary Esther Ahern. He is also survived by his daughter Anna Ahern and Charles Hamm as well as his granddaughters Bernadette, Elizabeth and Gwendolen Hamm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Ursula's Food Pantry and Outreach, PO Box 18, Pursglove, WV 26546. The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the loving support of friends and extended family during this difficult time.
