Obituary of Foster Jesse McCartney

Foster Jesse McCartney, 89, of Morgantown, peacefully went to be with the Lord, and joined his loving wife Jean in heaven, on Tuesday, April 21, 2020. He died in his tractor on his farm doing what he loved, which is the way he said he always wanted to go. He was born on November 16, 1930, in Morgantown, son of the late Loyd and Georgie Stump McCartney. Foster worked at Wilson Works, formerly Wilson Equipment, for 63 years, and retired in 2015. He was an avid farmer, and a well-known jack of all trades. There was nothing that he couldn't figure out or fix. He was a lifelong member of Summers United Methodist Church, but attended Bethel Baptist Church and Johnson's Chapel United Methodist Church in his later years after the closing of Summers Church. He was a longstanding member of the West Virginia Farm Bureau. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, eating, and tinkering with projects around the house and on the farm. Foster is survived by three sons, Ronnie McCartney and his wife, Corkey, Michael McCartney and his wife, Anita, all of Morgantown, and Raymond and his wife, Rene, of Fairmont; three grandsons, Randy McCartney and his wife, Kristi, of Bruceton Mills, Ryan McCartney, of Denver, CO, and Nate McCartney, of Fairmont; a great-granddaughter, Finnlee McCartney, of Bruceton Mills; a step grandson, Bryan Gribble and his wife, Meagan; a step granddaughter, Delilah Long; a step great-grandson, Wyatt Gribble; and a step great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Gribble, all of Morgantown; and two sisters, Carolyn Matthew of Reedsville, and Linda McFadden, of Gans, PA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean McCartney; a son, Marvin McCartney; a grandson, Kurt McCartney; five sisters, Mary Daugherty, Edith Saylor, Ruth Schiffbauer, Emma Jean McCartney, and Emily Petrich; and two brothers, Eugene McCartney and Frank McCartney. Due to the nature of the pandemic situation, a private burial service is being planned for direct immediate family only. The McCartney family is heartbroken that they have to limit the attendance to the service, but are just trying to follow the restrictions due to the pandemic. Once the pandemic situation is over, the family will plan a memorial service for family and friends to join them in the celebration of Foster's life.
