Obituary of Bernadine Ford Bellotte
Please share a memory of Bernadine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On January 30, 2021, at 95 years old with her children and grandchildren by her side, Bernadine left her home for heaven.
Bernadine was independent, strong, loving, straight talking, funny, caring, very wise, a wife, mom, grandma, great grandma, and amazing friend. Born on June 19, 1925 to Clyde and Mamie Ford, she was 8th of eleven children. She came from the great depression era and never forgot it throughout her whole life. Hard work was never feared, but always finished with pride and a sense of accomplishment. At 95, it wasn't unusual to see her working in her flower garden, mowing her yard or even painting her porch. Cooking, canning and baking were no stranger to her. She made numerous quilts and afghans with tender loving care, always showing her special style and great pride in her work. A favorite pastime was playing cards with friends and family; regardless of winning or losing, she was a fierce competitor who loved the comfort and companionship.
At 21, she married the love of her life, Dominick J. Bellotte. For 53 years, from December 8, 1946 till July 17, 1999 his passing, with all the highs and lows of family life, they raised and cared for 5 children: Sam, Michael, Paul, Susan and Charlie. Once Dominick got sick, she independently took over all household responsibilities while lovingly taking care of him during his final years.
She was now in her seventies and on her own again. She reinvented herself by going shopping and dining with her son, Michael and wife Marsha on their weekend excursions. She spent time and celebrated holidays with her daughter, Susan and husband Dwight. Visits from her youngest son, Charlie and wife Louisa from Alaska were always a special treat. Grandkids were abundant and kept her busy with everything they were doing. Great grandkids were a welcome addition to her family and a special blessing of life renewing itself. She never missed a birthday and kept herself busy keeping track of everyone. So, at 95 almost 96, it's been a life of happiness, love and hard work. She loved to laugh and her quick sense of wit and unique charm will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know her. Well done Bernadine! You have finished this life with flying colors. Your great religious convictions and Christian faith will escort you to your well deserved next adventure.
In keeping with her wishes, private family services have been entrusted to Hastings Funeral Home with interment to take place at East Oak Grove Cemetery with her husband.
In lieu of flowers, please say a prayer for Bernadine and her family.
