Pastor Michael Louis Carter, 65, of Morgantown, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown. Michael was born in Jefferson City, MO on March 16, 1956, the son of the late James Arthur and Mary Ann (Busby) Carter, Sr.
Michael graduated from Helias High School in Jefferson City, MO in 1973. He was a pastor of the Manown Church and employed by Carpet One. In the beginning of his career he was a professional musician with the Leon Everett Country Band where he played with many well known artists. His greatest accomplishment in life was being the pastor of Manown Church and spending time with his grandchildren.
Michael is survived by his wife of 37 years, Beverly Carter; daughter, Hannah and her husband Joel; and two grandchildren, Payton and Paisley. He is also survived by brothers Robert Carter, James A. Carter Jr. and his wife Rose, and Edward Carter, all of Jefferson City, MO; sister, Barbara Matthews and her husband Ron of Overland Park, Kansas; sisters-in-law, Karen Carter of Belleville, Kansas and Tammy Carter of Mechanicsburg, PA; 14 nieces and nephews and 17 great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Myrtle Wilhelm of Kingwood, WV; brother-in-law, Dan Wilhelm, his wife Tami and their son Gabriel of Tucson, AZ; and brother-in-law, Michael Wilhelm and his wife Donna of Tucson, AZ.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Charles P. Wilhelm and brothers, John Carter and Thomas Carter.
Due to COVID 19, a celebration of life will be held in June with Pastor Daniel Hardesty officiating with details to be announced at a later date.
